Peter--Samaria, Lydda, Joppa, Caesarea, Jerusalem, Corinth (I Cor 9:5), Antioch (33-40), Babylon (44-49 AD) I Peter 5:13, Rome. Stayed in the Mamertime prison in Rome. Crucified upside down in 67 AD. Dorman Newman wrote in 1685 "His appearance was as follows: his body was slender of a middle size inclining to tallness. His complexion pail (sic) and almost white. His beard curled and thick, but short. His eyes black but flecked with red due to frequent weeping. Eyebrows thin or none at all."
Andrew--In Jerusalem, possibly any mention of elders and apostles. Scythia, in southern Russia around Black Sea (sizable Isrealite population). Known as the patron saint of Russia. Asia Minor-in Ephesus visiting John. In Greece he converted a governor's wife and crucified on X-shaped cross.
James, son of Zebedee (the Elder, the Great)--possibly Jude's father. First martyred apostle. Acts 12:1,2 about 44 AD by Herod Agrippa I. Possibly visited Spain, lots of traditions.
John, son of Zebedee--Possibly visited Rome, Parthagians (border of Russia & Iran, near Turkey). Probably had Mary, Jesus' mother with him for several years in Ephesus. Exiled to Patmos and released when Nerva succeeded Domitian. Died in Ephesus about 100 AD.
Phillip--(name means lover of horses). All references to Phillip are in John--a fellow Galilean. Scythia, traveled with Bartholomew. Hieropolis in Phrygia (close to Ephesus). Possibly visited France. Martyred at age 87 and buried with corpse upright. Four daughters prophesied in Hieropolis.
Bartholomew--(are Bartholomew and Nathanael the same person?). Only mentioned as one of the twelve, not mentioned elsewhere. Known to have left a gospel of Matthew in India. Also visited: Asia Minor (with Phillip), Hieropolis, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Mesopotamia w/ Thomas, Persia, Egypt, northern part of Africa. Died in Derbend.
Thomas or Didymas--(Didymas means twin). John and Peter only ones better documented than Thomas. Most detail in NT from John. Probably known from boyhood, from same city and had same craft. Central to preaching in Babylon. Driven out of Indian Pathia in 50 AD. In Malabar (S. India) in 52 AD. Visited Cambaya, Mogor, Socotora, Malavar, Bisnaga, China, Cafres. Maryred on December 21st in Carmandal, thirty years after Pentecost in Acts 2. Buried in Mylapore, India.
Matthew or Levi--James the Less's brother. Stayed in Palestine 15 years, then Persian Ethiopia, Macedonia, Syria, African Ethiopia. Possibly martyred in Egypht by Alexandrian Sanhedrin.
James, son of Alphaeus (James the Less, the Younger)--brother to Matthew, very little info. Cousin to Jesus. Stoned by Jews in Jerusalem.
Jude Thaddaeus (Judas, Lebbaeus Thaddaeus)--possibly son of James, the Elder. Nephew of John, son of Zebedee. One of the first apostles to leave Jerusalem In Armenia around Edessa w/ Bartholomew and Thomas. Died in Syria, north Persia, buried at Kara Kelesia.
Simon the Canaanite (Zealot)--Visited Egypt, North Africa to Carthage, Spain, fled Rome after Claudian Edict and arrived in Britain the first time in 44 AD, returned possibly w/ Joseph of Arimathea about 60 AD in Glastonbury, England, London, Palestine, Syria, Mesopotamia. Martyred in Persia w/ Jude.
Matthias--Possibly one of the 70 (Luke 10:1). In Armenian cities of Colchis, Sebastopol (w/ Andrew). Possibly stoned in Jerusalem.
Paul--first three years spent in Arabia, most likely Petra. Then back
to Acts. After Acts very likely he visited Spain and Britain, lots of
tradition. "Of a low stature, bald (or shaved) crooked thighs, handsome
legs, hollow-eyed; had a crooked nose; full of grace; for sometimes he
appeared as a man, sometimes he had the countenance of an angel." "the
bald-headed, hooknosed Galilean who trod the air into the third heaven and
learned the most beautiful things." "Round shouldered, with a sprinking
of gray on his head and beard, with an aquiline nose, grayish eyes, meeting
eyebrows, with a mixture of pale and red in his complextion." "small,
emaciated figure of the man from Tarsus." "Paul with his sore eyes as a
sight repulsive" "insignificant stature, his marred vision, his weak and
often distorted frame."
