Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you...Matthew 28:19-20
Around our house, Dad can really lay down the law, while I seem to be a pushover. When I tell the kids to "pick up their stuff," the kids say, "OK, OK, in a little while." They are sure I will forget or get sidetracked, and they will again escape their jobs. It is as though my words are mere suggestions!
Dad, on the other hand, is the law. Whatever he says to do, must be done immediately or there is big trouble. When he says, "Now," he means "Do it now!"
Both my husband and I know that our children need to help around the house to become responsible adults. It is for their own good that they are asked to help. It is not only to teach them, but to keep them safe and healthy that they must learn the basics of responsible living.
You know that we're God's children, too. When He tells us through His Word to do something, we need to do it now, so that we will become the mature Christians He would have us to be. If we don't, we'll face His consequences. After all...God's commandments are not just suggestions!
What are your plans for following the commandment to "Go...teach..."?
Now is the time for us to stand up and be a witness. The Gospel must be told. Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven't planted. (David Bly)
Let's get to work!
Do we need a goal, a motto, a prize to get us started and to motivate us?
Daniel 12:3 states our prize, "Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever."
Whom should we seek?
Following is Mother Teresa's method of selection:
I see Jesus in every human being.
I say to myself, this is hungry Jesus,
I must feed him.
This is sick Jesus.
This one has leprosy or gangrene;
I must wash him and tend to him.
I serve because I love Jesus.
John Wesley states:
Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as you ever can.
How do we teach people?
There is a net of love by which you can catch souls. (Mother Teresa)
People want to know how much you care before they care how much you know. (James F. Hind)
As we must account for every idle word, so we must for every idle silence. (Benjamin Franklin)
Now is the time to "Go teach all nations..." God's Word is not merely a suggestion. It is the law. It must be obeyed.
