Think of the richest person you know. Imagine having all the money and material things they own. Jesus is telling us there is something more valuable than that. There are riches far more precious than money and the things money can buy. And he warns us to be careful or we will not realize it - till for us, like for the rich man, it will be too late.
Jesus came to make us rich toward God, rich in the things of God, rich in the possessions of God. He came to make us friends with God. He came to give us ETERNAL life. He makes it possible for us to literally invest our money in the Eternal Bank of Heaven.
During this time of reflection, let us think about and appreciate our heavenly riches.
