The man wants to go with Jesus but he tells him, "Go to your family and tell them what the Lord has done for you." This man lives in the tombs - we would say the cemetery. He appears to be infatuated with death, an extremely violent man who is out of his mind and under the control of the devil.
What does Jesus do for this man? He gives him his life back. He gives him the ability to control himself. He gives him his sanity. He gives him his family. He is actually able to lead a normal life. He delivers him from Satan and sin.
The Lord’s Supper gives us an opportunity to remember what Jesus does for us. He also gives us a better life, a good life, real life. He gives us the ability to control ourselves and overcome our sins. He gives us peace of mind. He strengthens our families. He delivers us from the guilt and the practice of sin.
