Muffins

Have you ever eaten a muffin that has something extra on the top? Maybe a cinnamon mixture or cream cheese or something similar.

I noticed something today while eating an Otis Spunkmeyer Cheese Streusel muffin. I had ripped the package open and set the muffin upside down on the paper, and began eating from the bottom. Hmmm.... that's kinda odd.

Well, maybe I do that to save the best for last. While the rest of the muffin has a nice texture, it just doesn't compare to the top with the Cheese Streusel. After making it through the rest of it, the top is the reward for patience. Even though the entire thing is made from the same batter, the topping just really makes the muffin--it wouldn't even be called a Cheese Streusel muffin without the streusel topping.

Maybe that's how life is. We go through life--living, loving--but there has to be something missing. I know, life is good, but couldn't it be better?

The Hebrews writer wrote, "The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming--not the realities themselves." (10:1a) and "They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven." (8:5a)

Whatever we have on earth is a shadow of what is to come. This world, as good as it is sometimes, is just an image of our true destination. Sometimes good things happen, but it's still not as good as it will be.

Live your life in such a way to make heaven the final "topping" to your life!
