ABC news reported on April 20, 1996, that America is the wealthiest and most advanced nation in the world. Yet we are the unhappiest people in the world. Americans need to realize that true joy is not found in possessions or wealth, but from within ourselves. So, how can we live joyfully?
First, joyful people are building a relationship in Jesus Christ. The happiest people are building their souls as well as the mind and the body. For some people, life is more than just living for today, but building towards something greater -- eternity!
Second, joyful people are building relationships with other people. The happiest people are people who are cultivating friendships and learning how to be a friend. No one is an island; we all need fellowship and friends. The need for friendship is critical, if our society is to maintain a sense of health.
Notice what a friend does:
Third, joyful people have set realistic goals and are working towards them. There is power in a having purpose! Americans are disillusioned with life because of lost dreams, goals, and visions that have eluded them. The happiest people are those who have a purpose for living life. Do you?
In short, life makes us either bitter or better, so why not live better and live joyfully.
