Have you thought you would feel like a hypocrite if you attended church? At the Independence Church of Christ there are many different kinds. It is by design that the assemblies are made up of both Christians and non-Christians.
In addition, the true Christian is quick to tell you he/she is not an angel. The true Christian does not have a "holier than thou" attitude. True Christians know that they are saved by the grace of God. They realize that the Bible says, "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us" (1 John 1:9). Furthermore, the true Christian knows that they can (and do) fall short of the glory of God's grace. Therefore, they must rely on God's forgiveness and His Word that brings comfort and encouragement.
The Bible teaches that God hates sin, but loves the sinner. Come learn more about God's saving grace at the Independence church of Christ, 401 S. 11th St. Our classes begin at 9:30 AM and Worship is at 10:30 AM. Come Worship with us.
"Have this mind in you which was also in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 2:5).
The spirit of Christ is what the original church sought to emulate. If we restore the New Testament church in a community, this true Christian spirit must be one of the major things we determine to restore.
Unselfishness and service are included in the Christian spi rit. So Is a readiness to forgive. Also, returning good for evil. Being thoughtful and helpful and speaking kindly to people are also included. In short, this is having the mind of Christ. See Matthew 22:3740, and I Cor. 13:1-13.
This spirit of truth with restoration of the New Testament church and Bible teaching all go hand-in-hand. We of the Independence Church of Christ, 401 S. 11th St. do not claim to be perfect by any means, but we are striving to restore the original Christianity of the Bible. We believe you will find a love for the Lord, love for people, love for truth. Come Worship with us. Bible Classes are at 9:30 AM with Worship at 10:30 AM.
People often ask, "What is the Church of Christ?" Some have wondered if we are a cult, although the cuft characteristics are not present: not the brainwashing; not the one man head; not the headquarters at some earthly spot.
Neither are we connected with the Christian Scientists, the United Church of Christ nor the Mormons. We are not a part of what is cornmonly called, "the Pentecostal movement." We have not written a creed for a church to go by. There are no organic ties with other Churches of Christ. No denominational ties whatsoever.
On the other hand, this is simply a congregation of Christians who are nothing but Christians. Our likeness and fellowship you see between us and others who call themselves churches of Christ is due to the desire all of us have to get back to original Christianity as described in the Bible and as existed in the first century.
Because Jesus Christ "Is the head of the body the church" (Colossians 1:18). Come and serve God with us. We meet at 401 S. 11th St. with our Bible classes beginning at 9:30 AM followed by Worship at 10:30 AM.
Bible students generally admit:
Is the Bible church an invisible, nebulous sort of thing? Not at all. We read that the church in Antioch assembled on a regular basis (Acts 11:26). We see officers being appointed in the congregations of Lystra, lconium, and Antioch. Naming these cities, Acts 14:21-23 says they "ordained them elders in every church." The organization was on the congregational level. Thus the New Testament church was undenominational and was organized into congregations.
This being true, a local church should endeavor to follow the Bible pattern, and thus be nothing more or less than Christ's church in their community, independent of all denominational organizations and free of all man-made creeds.
Each person should set himself to seek out the Bible church and become a part of it. Remember, "Seek and you shall find" (Matthew 7:7b).
Come and seek out the Independence Church of Christ. 401 S. 11th St. Our Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM with Worship at 10:30 AM. Come Worship with us.
When a congregation becomes a sect or a part of a sect, she separates herself from other Christians. Therefore, we want to avoid this. We are interested in being a non-sectarian church. What would such a church be like?
The Church of Christ, 401 S. 11th St. in Independence, is determined to be the Lord's non-sectarian church. Come and help us in this endeavor.
Are you a "Christian?" Are you willing to let the Bible to decide the answer to this question? The writer of the book of Hebrews reminds us just who is a Christian. A Christian is:
